First study of fretting wear in printed Inconel 625 up to 700 °C: the printed alloy wears more than wrought at room temperature but much less when hot, because it forms a protective oxide sooner.

In-situ high-temperature nanoindentation and fretting on printed Inconel 625: 30% softer at 510 °C, yet lower friction and wear, thanks to a compact oxide layer at the contact.
